36" H x 42" W x 16.5 D. Additional photos available upon request. Meiji Period or 1868 to 1912. In very good original condition. Measures approximately thirty-six inches high by forty-two inches wide by sixteen and a half inches deep.

Typical Yamagata Prefecture construction and hardware featuring Hirute drawer pulls and expansive lock plates with center floriated lock button. Constructed from Japanese Chestnut (Kuri) for drawer faces and a Kijiro Lacquer over a Bengara stain.

Paulownia wood is utilized for the drawer bodies, and Cryptomeria (Sugi) woods for the chest body. Lacquered finish is original and in very good condition. Unusual lockplates not using the usual Chrysanthemum-leaf motif, but using what looks like a repetitive shining sun pattern. Lockable valuables section with another locked drawer within.
