Together with a larger square tray (6"x6"), a box (6"x3.5") with five small trays (5"x3.5"), a bottle box (6"x3.5") and two pewter sake bottles, this is the perfect picnic set. Each surface is embellished with maki-e gold, with an overall theme of kiku, or chrysanthemums, the symbol of Japan.
The case for this beautiful set measures 11"x11"x6. There are some small cracks, most noticeably on the bottle box, and minor wear and repairs, some small dents in the pewter, but in general it's in good condition. I believe it is from the Edo Period, but it could be from the Meiji period. The item "Antique Japanese Maki-e Lacquer Jubako Bento Picnic Set with Pewter Sake Bottles" is in sale since Thursday, December 17, 2020.
