A rectangular wooden zushi for displaying a small Buddhist sculpture or other votive object, the exterior finished in black lacquer and the interior in genuine gold-leaf and polychrome, with exterior hinges, closing clasp, and decorative metalwork in gilt-copper. Excellent condition, with only negligible old loss to the exterior lacquer and rubbing/loss to the interior gilt. Exterior Height: 23.2 cm (9.1 in) Width: 13.1 cm (5.2 in) Depth: 5.7 cm (2.2 in).

Packaged Weight: 1.25 kg (2.75 lb). An extremely high-quality zushi in an unusual rectangular shape and with relatively shallow depth, featuring elaborate floral-motif polychrome treatment, including radiant lapis-lazuli, to the upper baldachin and exquisitely detailed hand-wrought decorative metalwork.
