The Goto family has been carving for 29 generations, is the one of early carvers, very famous and well known in Japan as well as around the world, most of his artworks was collected by museums and galleries, and hardly find in the market. The plate was artfully carved from Katsura timber, then lacquered in several layers. After a month of drying, it was polished to bring out its beautiful pattern. The plate is in pristine condition, 9.25diameter, 1.5high, has the artists stamp on the back, due to the age, it looks not very clear, need an magnifier to find it, same image shows in last photo.
